Gertrude York

Gertrude Victoria (Sisco) York, 90, Seminole resident, received her heavenly wings, Tuesday, August 11, 2015. At the time of her death, Mrs. York was residing at Wewoka Healthcare Nursing Home. Mrs. York was born September 25, 1924 in Osage Township, Carroll County, Arkansas to Earnest Sisco and Beulah (Ferguson) Sisco.   Mrs. York was a long term Shawnee resident. She was a member of the Rock Creek Baptist Church, east of Shawnee, Oklahoma, a homemaker, loved going to garage sales, gardening, canning and helping people. She never met a stranger and enjoyed visiting with others.   She married Herman L. York on January 13, 1941 in Seminole, Oklahoma.   She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved second mother, Mae ( Smith) Sisco, her brother Efton Sisco, her sister, Margie (Sisco) Hawkins, and her husband.   Mrs. York is survived by three sons, Larry York of Dallas, Texas, Darrell York of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Ronnie York of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, two daughters Katherine (Kay York) Minihan and Jerenda(York) Calder both of Seminole, Oklahoma, two brothers Charles Sisco and Roy Sisco both of Wewoka, Oklahoma, three sisters Ora Lee Denton, Lois House and Gene Griffith all of Wewoka, Oklahoma, seven grandchildren and several great grandchildren.   Private family graveside services are planned at Neal Cemetery, East of Shawnee, Oklahoma.   Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
