Gertrude May (Enoch) Stilwell, age 101, passed away February 29, 2020 in Seminole, Oklahoma. She was born February 6, 1919 in Drumright, Oklahoma to parents William J. Enoch and Margaret Marie (DeMarsh) Enoch. She was one of ten children and was the last surviving sibling. Gertrude and her family moved to Seminole when she was 6 years old. She attended schools in Seminole and attended the “almost new” Seminole High School Building. She married Roy E. Stilwell on April 26, 1936 in Earlsboro, Oklahoma and they were married 55 years until he passed away on August 7, 1991. Gertrude worked at Douglas Aircraft in Oklahoma City during WWII, riding the bus there and back and worked at Big Yank Jean Factory until her retirement in 1985. She was also a homemaker and helped her husband in his business, Stilwell Used Cars. She enjoyed sewing, making flower arrangements, crocheting, crafts, ceramics, dominoes, casino games and dancing. She survived the depression, war, death of an infant son and an adult son. She was full of love and life and had the most beautiful smile. She was honored on her 100th birthday by receiving a special pin from the Oklahoma Centenarian and a party hosted by her family. Gertrude is survived by her sons; Ray Stilwell of Seminole, Oklahoma and Lee Stilwell and his wife Diana of Moore, Oklahoma, her daughter; Phyllis Richardson and her husband Don of Seminole, Oklahoma, daughter-in-law; June Stilwell of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, grandchildren; Jon, David, Greg, Patricia, Shannon, Amy, Jeremy, Shelly and Scott, great grandchildren; Alicia, Saul, Reilly, Hayden, Allison and Blake and several great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roy Stilwell, nine siblings, sons Dan Stilwell and David Stilwell, great grandson Timothy and granddaughters Carol and Shannon. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Little Cemetery, Highway 99 North, in Seminole, Oklahoma with Arpoika Daniels officiating. The family requests that in lieu of flowers please make memorial donations to the charity of your choice. Swearingen Funeral Home will assist with these donations if needed.
