Gerald Kistler

Gerald Tremaine Kistler, 79, passed from this life on August 13, 2013 in an Oklahoma City hospital with his family by his bedside. He was born in Seminole, Oklahoma on July 26, 1934 to Hoyle and Lena Kistler of Seminole, Oklahoma. The Kistler family owned and operated the Seminole Bakery for many years. Gerald attended Seminole Schools, graduating with the class of 1952. He served two years in the U.S. Military, stationed in Chicago, Illinois with the 5th Army Headquarters. While performing his duties in the Military he played and coached the Army baseball team. Gerald retired from Tinker Air Force Base after 35 years of employment. The Seminole Girls Softball Association was organized by Gerald in 1973. He was President of the Association, and coached numerous teams, over a period of 23 years. Gerald was a Basketball Official for approximately 25 years. He also was a member of a Men’s Senior Softball League, after retirement and played for the Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Royals which won several national championships. He was an avid OU Football fan and season ticket holder since 1953. In recent years, he organized and coached a Co-Ed softball team for the First Baptist Church in Seminole, where he attended services. He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife, Sheila of the home and a daughter from a previous marriage Lenita Olsen of Shawnee, Oklahoma, two daughters by a previous marriage, Sharita Lynn Stalnaker and husband Mike of Maud, Oklahoma, Brenda Renai Clegg of Santa Ana, California, three grandchildren; Brandon Stalnaker and his wife Chrystal of Maud, Oklahoma, Shannon Stalnaker of Maud, Oklahoma and Baylen Clegg of Allen, Texas and six great grandchildren. Survivors also include two sisters, Dianne Pauly and husband Mike of Naperville, Illinois and Emily Sims and her husband Starr of Seminole, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Saturday, August 17, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Seminole, Oklahoma with Rev. Marvin Kehl officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole, Oklahoma. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
