Gerald Loyd Davis, 88, former longtime Seminole, Oklahoma resident, died Saturday, September 10, 2016 in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Gerald was born December 18, 1927 in Texas, to Joseph H. Davis and Roxie (Sparks) Davis. Gerald was a carpenter for most of his adult life. He had served his country in the U.S. Army. He married Venora ( Peek) Davis  on August 22, 1944 in Bixby, Oklahoma and she preceded him in death on December 9, 2012. Gerald and Venora moved to Seminole in the 70’s from Electra, Texas. Gerald is survived by, two daughters; Sharon Crow and her husband Lawrence of Fort Worth, Texas and Karen Parker of Ardmore, Oklahoma; one brother Clifton Davis and his wife Maxine of Laverne, Oklahoma, five sisters, Ima Russell and her husband Sydney of Seminole, Oklahoma, Wanda Jo Harvey and her husband A.B. of Seminole, Oklahoma, Barbara Miner and her husband Bob of Aberdeen, Mississippi, Janice Dudley and her husband Don of Ennis, Texas, and Reba Mash of Ennis, Texas, five grandchildren; Travis Crow and his wife Holly, Mark Crow and his wife Marie, Keith Crow and his wife Ashley, Greg Parker and his wife Joni, Rhoni Elliott and her husband Rod, eleven great-grandchildren; Blain, Creed and River Elliott, Braden  Crow and Luke Crow, Dane, Trey and Jake Parker, Cara-Lee Crow , Sara and Ava Crow and very special caregiver and “daughter by choice”, Jeanette Stribling of Fort Worth, Texas. He was predeceased by his parents, Joe and Roxie Davis,  his wife Venora Davis, his son Gerald Davis, Jr., sister, Patricia Monreal,  one granddaughter Lori Crow, and son-in-law Ronald Parker. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Unit 4 and Unit 5 of the Ardmore Veteran’s Center for all their loving care and support. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma, with special friend and relative Gus Monreal officiating. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6-8 P.M. on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel. Casket bearers will be his grandsons; Travis Crow, Mark Crow, Keith Crow, Greg Parker, Rod Elliott. Honorary casket bearers will be his great grandsons; Blain Elliott, Creed Elliott, River Elliott, Braden Crow, Luke Crow, Dane Parker, Trey Parker and Jake Parker. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
