Georgia Faye (Kaney) Coody, lifelong Seminole resident, passed away on Tuesday, December 22, 2020, in Wichita, Kansas. Faye was born on February 22, 1957 in Talihina, OK, to James and Lula Mae (Harjo) Kaney. She worked at various jobs throughout her life including her work in the kitchen at the Grand Casino in Shawnee, OK.
Faye married Kenneth Doyle Coody on November 9, 1979 in Maud, OK. She was a member of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma. She enjoyed hanging out with her family, especially her grandchildren. She treasured watching her grandchildren’s sports events. Faye was a Cleveland Browns and OU fan. She had a lot of fun playing games on her phone. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Faye is survived by her son, Kyle and wife Kenna Coody of Shawnee; brother, James Kaney Jr. of Shawnee; sister, Elmina Kaney-Felson of Seminole; four grandchildren, Jordan Coody, Christian Coody, Lexie Coody and Bella Coody; numerous nieces and nephews family and friends.
Faye was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth D. Coody; sister, Joyce Kaney-Fixico; two brothers, Willie and Leonard Kaney; and son, Micco James Coody.
Casket bearers will be Bobby Lena, Christian Coody, Jordan Coody, Randy Wilde, Anthony Mauk and William Foster. Honorary casket bearers will be Greg Chilcoat, Shane Iverson and Clifford Harjo.
Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, December 28, 2020 at 10:00 am at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, OK. Rev. Thomas Little will officiate. Burial will follow at the Coody/Harjo Family Cemetery in Seminole.
Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
