George Odor

George Samuel Odor, Jr. 83 year-old, life long Seminole resident passed from this life Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at his home in Seminole surrounded by his loving family.  He was born October 18, 1928 in Seminole County, Oklahoma to parents George Samuel Odor, Sr. and Fay Loney (Ketcher) Odor. George attended Seminole Schools and then served in the United States Army.  He was also a proud member of the Cherokee Nation and a member of Harvey Road Baptist Church in Seminole. On May 31, 1952 George married Billie Fern Harris in Seminole, Oklahoma.  He worked for Newman Construction as a heavy equipment operator following that he worked as custodian at Strothers Elementary School until his retirement in 1994. George leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 60 years, Billie Odor of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Karen Odor of Seminole, Oklahoma; one daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Montia Robbins of Earlsboro, Oklahoma; one sister-in-law, Joyce Williams of Seminole, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Lisa Grimes of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, Shannon Grimes of El Reno, Oklahoma, Justin Odor and Kaytie Odor both of Seminole, Oklahoma; two great-grandchildren, Peyton Grimes of Electra, Texas and Elijah Kidwell of Tecumseh, Oklahoma; and a host of other dear family and friends. George is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Lloyd Eugene Odor; five sisters, Lucille Farnum, Harriett Teague, Lucille Osborn, Fay Cauthorn, and Elsie Rider. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 2, 2012 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole.  Rev. Carl Whitfield will officiate the service.  Interment will follow at Little Cemetery. Casket bearers will be: Rick Marquis, Leslie Williams, Elijah Kidwell, Tim King, Aaron Davidson and Shawn Robbins. Honorary bearers will be the Men’s Sunday School Class of Harvey Road Baptist Church. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
