George Washington “G.W.” Fain, 94 year-old, longtime Seminole resident went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 13, 2010 in Tecumseh, Oklahoma. He was born August 22, 1916 in Durant, Oklahoma to parents Luther and Leona (Doss) Fain. George married Mabel Henry and of this union three children were born Glenn, Bobby Harrel and LaWanda. He later married Mary Brown and they had two boys George and Robert. George or “G.W” as he was often called spent his entire life “fixin” things. During Word War II in the defense plant in San Antonio, Texas and Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma he was assistant general foreman. He later worked as service manager for Ken Braddy Lincoln Mercury and Don Hayes Oldsmobile Cadillac in Ada, Oklahoma and L.J. Greggs Chevrolet in Seminole, Oklahoma. He would fix cars for Jimmy’s Wrecker Service when they needed him as well. George was a hard worker and great mechanic. There wasn’t anything much he couldn’t fix, motorcycles, boat motors, jet skies, lawn mowers, washer and dryers. After retirement he would make extra by fixing and reselling the items, as well as anything the family would take him. George is preceded in death by his parents; one sister; his first wife Mable Fain and his second wife Mary Fain; one son, Bobby Harrell Fain; one grandson Jim Fain; one great-grandson Nathan Dulin; and by his beloved companion, Margie Plumlee. Left to mourn his passing are three sons and daughters-in-law; Glenn and Betty Fain of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, George and Susan Fain of Collinsville, Oklahoma and Robert Fain of Vera, Oklahoma; one daughter, LaWanda Grass of Salina, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Meloni Flickinger of Edmond, Oklahoma, Tim Fain of Edmond, Oklahoma, Penny Cotner of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Lori Perry of Pryor, Oklahoma, Lisa Silkey of Claremore, Oklahoma, Stephanie Franklin of Grove, Oklahoma, Julie Dulin of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Russell Fain of Collinsville, Oklahoma, Abi Fain of Norman, Oklahoma; 18 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; a special nephew, Paul Kerley of California; and a host of other family and dear friends. He loved his church the Freewill Baptist Church in Wolf, Oklahoma. He also loved his many friendships there as well as his buddies at the Heritage House in Seminole, Oklahoma. Thanks so much for the wonderful care he received over the past nine years and a special thanks to Carolyn who came in twice a day to cook and clean for him. The nurse Heartland Hospice and Sunset Estates were wonderful. Also special thanks to his buddy and neighbor Larry for always being there for him. Graveside services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m., Thursday, September 16, 2010 at Little Cemetery with Rev. Allen Wood officiating the service.
