George Burton

George Hayward Burton, 76 year old Seminole, Oklahoma resident, passed from this life on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 in Seminole, Oklahoma.  He was born November 14, 1938 in Piedmont, South Carolina to parents Mallie (Sanders) Burton and Rufus A. Burton. George was a musician and entertainer most of his life.  He had recorded several albums throughout his career. In 2012 George moved to Seminole from South Carolina.  He loved to go to different churches and events to play his guitar and sing.  He was well known for giving his friends his CD’s at no charge. George leaves to cherish his memory his first born son, Avery Ward Burton and his wife Toni of Tampa, Florida, his second born son, Aaron Warren Burton of Phoenix, Arizona, his first born daughter, Stephanie Joyner and her husband Charles of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, and his second born daughter, Natalie Gore and her husband David of Seminole, Oklahoma; one brother, Frank Burton of Piedmont, South Carolina; one sister, Ruth Hartstock of Simpsonville, South Carolina; seven grandchildren, Tyler Burton, Meah Burton, Jaylin Burton, Aiden Larson, David Joyner, David Allen Gore, Nash Gore; and a host of other family and dear friends. George is preceded in death by his mother, Mallie (Sanders) Burton; and by his father, Rufus A. Burton; and by 12 siblings.  George was the youngest of 15 children. Memorial services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 31, 2015 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating the service.
