Genevieve Maxine (Akin) Brown, 94 year-old lifelong Pottawatomie and Seminole County resident who lived in the Remus, Saint Louis, Macomb, Fairview and Seminole communities. Passed from this life Thursday, November 6, 2008 at Seminole Estates Care Center in Seminole. She was born February 20, 1914 in Maud, Oklahoma to parents Emsley Floyd ?E.F.? Akin, Sr. and Grace Mahala (Bradburn) Akin. She graduated from Maud High School in 1931. She married Rural L. Brown in 1931 and he preceded her in death in April of 1976.rnrnMrs. Brown was a homemaker and a longtime member of the Seminole Free Will Baptist Church. She had also served as a ?Past Worthy Matron? of the Maud Eastern Star where she had received her 50-year plaque. Brown was a member of the Remus Home Demonstration club for over 20 years and had served as Past President for the Seminole Pink Ladies having over 8,400 hours of service at Seminole Hospital.rnrnSurvivors include her loving family: Two sons and a daughter-in-law, Wayne L. and Clarice Brown of Wichita, Kansas and Bobby G. Brown of Chino Valley, Arizona; one daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Bob Hass of San Diego, California; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Floyd and Verna Akin of Maud, Oklahoma and Jimmy Akin of Norman, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and 13 great great grandchildren, also a host of other nieces, nephews and other dear family and friends.rnrnMrs. Brown is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Rural L. Brown; one sister, Mary Alice Kindle and by one grandson Larry Hass.rnrnFuneral Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 10 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole. Interment will follow at Cummings Cemetery in Maud, Oklahoma. Rev. Delbert Akin, Rev. David McDougal and Rev.
