Gem Elizabeth Hogan

Gem Elizabeth “Beth” (Mosley) Hogan, 85, longtime Seminole, Oklahoma resident passed away, Saturday, February 16, 2019 in Allen, Texas. Elizabeth was born July 15, 1933 in Nocona, Texas. She was named after a beautiful gem. Her initials of Gem Elizabeth Mosley spelled her name, Gem. Though growing up and being called, “Jimmy, Jimmy, and Jimmy", she opted to go by Elizabeth and most of us knew her as “Beth”. Beth was a longtime educator at Roosevelt and Northwood schools in Seminole, Oklahoma. Beth was instrumental in developing the Camp Goddard program for Seminole Public Schools and went every year she could to camp. She was a member of the Seminole Association of Classroom Teachers, Oklahoma Education Association, National Education Association, A. A. U. W. (American Association of University Women), Delta Kappa Gamma Society, Seminole Arts Council, Self-Culture Club, Meals on Wheels. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Seminole where she was a member of the United Methodist Women and the Mary Group.  She was a Sunday school teacher, member of the Choir, taught bible school and was on the building committee at the church. She was a faithful church member and loved her church dearly. She loved learning and teaching, she enjoyed culture and traveling, her community and people. She loved her family intensely and had a soft spot for dogs. She always had one and many were strays that  she took in. She loved going to the Dallas Opera with her brother Joe and Mozart festivals with her best friend Liz. She liked the outdoors, camping, collecting rocks and water skiing and loved, loved, McDonald’s. Beth is survived by her daughter Lisa Campbell and her husband Craig of Frisco, Texas, her son Richard Hogan and his wife Patty of The Colony, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents, a sister, a brother and her husband, Robert Clyde Hogan who passed away on December 13, 1997. They had been married for 46 years at the time of his death. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, February 23, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church, 910 West Wrangler Blvd. in Seminole, Oklahoma, with Rev. Mark Watson officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, in Seminole.
