Gayla (Fowler) Hendryx, 64, of Seminole, Oklahoma was surrounded by her loved ones when she received her heavenly reward on Tuesday, December 22, 2020. She was born February 15, 1956 in Seminole, Ok. to Kenneth and Dixie Fowler. Gayla was born and raised in Seminole continued living here raising her family. She married Jeff Hendryx on October 23,1971 in Seminole, Ok. They were married for 25 years. They spent countless hours coaching softball and baseball together. Even though they were divorced, they remained close friends. Gayla took care of Jeff in his sickness until he passed away. During Gayla and Jeff’s marriage they spent many of nights with their beloved best friends Jim and Linda Malone. Taco night and playing wahoo was a must every week.
Gayla worked in daycares for 20 plus years and eventually became an executive director. Gayla was a selfless individual. She loved the children she took care of as if they were her own. She was constantly busy and worked tirelessly to ensure her family was taken care of. She loved and adored her family and friends. She spent countless hours chasing after her grandkids and taking them wherever they needed to be. Gayla was a generous, caring and compassionate person. If you ever needed anything, Gayla would be right there to help. She enjoyed spending all her time with her kids and especially her grandkids. She made sure she was at every ballgame she could make. Gayla spent a lot of her time gardening and canning vegetables, especially her famous pickles. Gayla also enjoyed baking and going to church.
Gayla had a special bond with her sister, Lois Hendryx. She loved her sister who was her best friend. They were two peas in a pod. Lois took care of Gayla in her illness. Gayla was a dedicated mother and grandmother. If you came in contact with Gayla, you heard all about Brad, Shelly, and her grandchildren. She was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church of Seminole, OK. Gayla loved God and her church family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, the father of her children Jeff Hendryx, brother-in-law Ronnie Hendryx, and special nephew Shane Hendryx. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Shelly and Joshua McCutcheon; one son Brad Hendryx of Seminole; One sister Lois Hendryx of Seminole; 7 grandchildren Melissa and Tyler Sensabaugh, Caleb McCutcheon, Laura McCutcheon, Mariah and Corey Johnson, Haley and Trevor Smith, Steven Hendryx and fiance’ Tyesha Wills and Kaelynn and Kyron Kendrick. Great Grandchildren Caden Sensabaugh, Elijah, Ian, Owen Smith, Rylah, Luke, and Sammie Johnson and special nieces and nephews Hollie Lupton, Carrie and Daniel Moore, Jason Hendryx, and Josh and Kristen Torres.

Viewing will be from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, December 27, 2020 at Swearingen Funeral Home.
Services to celebrate Gayla’s life will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 28, 2020 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole with Charlie Jamison officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Jason Hendryx, Caleb McCutcheon, Steven Hendryx, Tyler Sensabough, Jimmy Choage and Josh Torres.
Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
