Gary Veitenheimer

Gary Veitenheimer, 71, Seminole county resident, passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Hillcrest Oklahoma Heart Institute in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Gary was born on February 10, 1948 in Contra Costa, California to his parents; Peter P. Veitenheimer, Jr. and Alyce’ Margaret (Green) Scott. Gary attended grade school in Shawnee, Oklahoma and moved to the Strother area in the 8th grade and he graduated from Strother High School in 1966. After graduation, he attended Oklahoma State University for 5 years where he earned a degree in Agriculture Engineering. Gary was a tribal member of the Citizens Pottawatomie Nation of Oklahoma. Gary was Vice-President of Agriculture Production at Stokely USA and Chief Operating Officer of Pureline Seeds, Inc. for 17 years and was retired at the time of his death. Gary was an outdoorsman and conservationist. Gary loved hunting and guiding hunters, fishing, mentoring young and novice hunters. He was also an avid basketball player. He especially enjoyed teaching his children and grandchildren to love and honor nature. Gary and Penny were the founders of the 4-Corners Gobblers Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation and Gary was very active in all aspects of the chapter. Gary served as a Deacon and board member of Christian Way Ministries. “There are so many stories we would like to share about Gary, but I want to share this one: We met in July 1983 and made plans to spend a weekend at Lake Eucha with Don and Sharon Warden later that summer. On our way to meet them, we stopped at a convenience store to buy snacks and fishing licenses. When we got back in the car and headed to the lake, he said to me, “they didn’t charge me enough” (they had not charged for the fishing licenses.) After the weekend was over and we were on our way home, he stopped at that store and went in and paid for the licenses. This is integrity I had never seen before this is the lifestyle he instilled in our children and our life together in every circumstance we encountered.” Penny. Gary married Penny (Seaton) Veitenheimer on October 26, 1985 and then renewed their vows on November 30, 2003, Penny survives him of the home. Gary is also survived by his mother Alyce’ M. Scott of Shawnee, Oklahoma,  two sons; Glendon Gouker of Hominy, Oklahonma and Kyle Gouker of Seminole, Oklahoma; two daughters Billi Wright and her husband David of Prague, Oklahoma and Bobbi Vincent and her husband Michael of Shawnee, Oklahoma, his sister Laura (Scott) Miller and her husband Rick of Stonewall, Oklahoma, his grandchildren; Kyla (Gouker) Gordan, Kenneth, Trevor Wright and Angelica, Dylan Gouker and Whitney, Samantha Wright, Cole Wright, Jacob Vincent, Timber Gouker, Jordan Gouker, Joshua Vincent, Joel Vincent, Lexi Vincent, Kodi Vincent and Cherokee Richardson-Velasco, his great grandchildren Logan Wright, Colton Wright, Alayna Wright , Jaydin Parker, Jacelyn Gouker and Jace Gouker. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and a special recognition to his niece Khara Schuetzner and husband Gabriel. Gary was preceded in death by his biological father, Peter P. Veitenheimer, Jr., his “Dad” Mr. J. Wendell Scott, his grandparents; Mr. Peter Veitenheimer, Sr. and Grace Veitenheimer (Bruno)  and Mr. William H. Green and Mary A. Green (Bouska); sister Sheri S. Criswell and nephew Blake A. Miller. The family will host a visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, January 9, 2020 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, with cremation services to follow.  Rev. Andy Young and Rev. Shirley Littleton will officiate at the service. Honorary bearers will be Kyle Gouker, Michael Vincent, David Wright, Trevor Wright, Dylan Gouker, Cole Wright, Jacob Vincent, Joshua Vincent and Joel Vincent. A luncheon will be provided after the service for the family at the Immanuel Fellowship Church on Highway # 3 in Seminole. The family would like to thank Pastor Tim Tate for his kindness in allowing them to use their facility and Christian Way Ministries for organizing and providing the meal.
