Freeman Smith

Freeman Smith Freeman B Smith passed away on Friday, May 28, 2010, in Edmond, Oklahoma, at the age of 84. He was born on September 7, 1925,  in Seminole, Oklahoma, to James Buchannan and Getty Lee (Phelps) Smith. He married Twilla (Morris) on July 31, 1987, in Shawnee, Oklahoma.  Freeman worked as a parts manager for Modern Motors in Shawnee most of his life. He was a master whittler, making very unique and intricate wooden wagons.  His creations are on display at the Sante Fe Depot Museum, as well as the Firefighters Museum in Shawnee.  Freeman was also very passionate about playing bass guitar and played every Friday night in Midlothian.  He also played with a band at the Shawnee Senior Citizens Center on Thursdays and Fridays.  For the past 22 years, he and his wife have enjoyed their annual fishing trips to Lake Tenkiller.  He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 22 years, Twilla Smith of the home, two daughters and sons-in-law: Pamala and John Reynolds of Shawnee and Paula and Greg Petree of Shawnee and one son, Scott Smith of Moore, Oklahoma.  He is also survived by seven  grand-children: Stephen Petree, Jason Reynolds, Rachel Loudon, Lori Price, Todd Reynolds, Chad Petree and Laurel Smith and seven great   grandchildren: Taylor Loudon, Amanda Loudon, Elaina Price, Ally Petree, Isabella Petree, Jonas Price and StevieJane Petree. He is preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Helen King Smith, on May 13, 1986, and nine brothers and sisters. Family visitation will be 11:00 A.M. Wed., June 2, at Swearingen Funeral Home.  Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Wed., June 2, at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.   Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole.
