Fredrick Steven Lucas, age 80, a Seminole, Oklahoma resident, passed away December 15, 2020 in Sherman, Texas. He was born on June 20, 1940 in Okemah, Oklahoma to parents John James Lucas and Naomi (Sullivan) Lucas. Fred was the 11th born of their 13 children.
Fred spent more than half of his life in California where he attended school. In 1957 he joined the U.S. Army and served his country overseas in Korea. On February 16, 1961 he married his former wife Faye Lucas in Junction City, Kansas and from this union 2 children were born, Steven Lucas and Shane Lucas.
Fred was a trucker for many years and was also a skilled auto and diesel mechanic. He was a professional welder spending some time in the Oklahoma oilfields 40 years ago.
Fred is survived by his former wife Faye Lucas of Seminole, sons; Steve Lucas of Seminole and Shane Lucas of Oklahoma City, his brother and sister-in-law; Gilbert and Wanda Lucas of Seminole and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one grandchild; Alicia Lucas on December 17, 2019.
The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, December 21, 2020 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Al officiating. Internment will be at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole where he will be receiving Military Honors provided by the U.S. Army and a 21 gun salute provided by the Seminole Nation Honor Guard.
