Fred Morrison, 86, longtime Seminole resident, died Tuesday, February 2, 2016 in Seminole, Fred was born on June 7, 1929 in Cromwell, Oklahoma to James Eve Morrison and Alice May (Hunt) Morrison. An Angel came Tuesday morning and took a faithful servant home. Our beloved husband, father and grandfather went to be with his Savior, family and friends and waits for us to join him. Our Dad was the best husband, father and grandfather anyone could ever be blessed with. Mom and Dad will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary on Sunday, February 7, 2016, and the following is a story of how they met; It all started on a cold winter’s night many years ago. Nineteen year old Maudie Woods hurried over to her friend’s house after learning they had just lost a loved one. Little did she know on that night she would be coming face to face with her destiny. After giving her condolences she walked into the kitchen; there she saw twenty one year old Freddie Morrison standing in front of the kitchen sink, his hands buried in a pan of soapy dishwater. As the handsome cowboy turned and smiled at the pretty brunette he knew that right then and there his heart would belong to no other. Three months later they were married. Freddie was middle aged when the Lord called him to preach; together they started their own church and were revered by many. In their church community they became known as Brother Fred and Sister Maud. Together with Brother Fred’s preaching and Sister Maud’s piano playing (some say she could play a mean piano, mostly by ear) they brought many a lost soul to the Lord. They have inspired many people including their five children and grandchildren and great grandchildren not only with their words but also by how they have lived their daily lives. Some of their rules for a long and happy marriage are: Never go to Bed angry, Work together to keep your faith strong, (it will carry you through life’s peaks and valleys), Say I love you every day, Laugh a lot… Sixty one years later you could still find Brother Fred standing in the kitchen in front of the sink with his hands in a pan of soapy dishwater, and as he turned and smiled at Sister Maud he knew that his heart still belonged to no other, and as Sister Maud smiled back at Brother Fred she knew that he was still her handsome beloved cowboy, He was her destiny. Dad touched and changed many lives, he set a great example for us all, by living his faith every day, “ We miss you already, God speed Dad, We Love You”. Fred is survived by his loving wife Maudie Morrison of the home, three sons, Fred Morrison and his wife Ella, James Morrison, and Terry Morrison and his wife Linda all of Seminole, Oklahoma, two daughters Leora Cox of Seminole, Oklahoma and Debbie Mills and her husband Vernon of Newalla, Oklahoma, two brothers James Morrison and his wife April of Seminole, Oklahoma and Richard Morrison of Seminole, Oklahoma, three sisters Betty Kean and her husband Eldon of Seminole, Oklahoma, Cora Lee Hunt of Shawnee, Oklahoma and Carolyn Haworth of Seminole, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
