Fred “Freddie “King, 89, longtime Konawa resident, died Friday, December 21, 2018 at the Ballard Nursing Center in Ada, Oklahoma. Freddie was born April 9, 1929 in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma to Fredrick and Lucy May (Sharp) King. Freddie grew up in Fort Cobb and attended schools there. Freddie Moved to Konawa, Oklahoma in 1994. Freddie was a truck driver and had drove trucks for Lee Way and Trans Con. He also had worked for the General Motors Plant in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma driving trucks for them. Freddie, at one point in his career was self-employed with his own trucking company. Freddie loved to play golf, raise his cattle on his farm in Konawa, Oklahoma. He also attended the Pentecostal Holiness Church, in Konawa, with his wife. Freddie also served in the United States Army in the Medical Corp. Freddie married Thelma Nita (Thompson) King on February 5, 1952 in Tijuana, Mexico and she preceded him in death on January 13, 2012. Freddie is survived by his two sons; Fred King, Jr. of Edmond, Oklahoma and William Lee King and his wife Sylvia of Harrah, Oklahoma and his daughter Karen M. Sims of Konawa, Oklahoma, seven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Thelma King, brothers Francis Junior King and Mark Gregory King. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday December 28, 2018 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel, at 200 South Broadway, Konawa, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery, East of Konawa. Rev. Mitch Williams will officiate at the services.
