Franklin Taylor Russell , age 72 and a resident of Konawa, Oklahoma passed away at Norman Regional Hospital April 23, 2022.
A graveside service with military honors will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 28, 2022 at Vamoosa Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa. Phillip Mullins will officiate, and casket bearers are Mark Stoup, Brandon Stoup, Steve Flora, Coby Grimes, Zeb Kuestersteffen, and Floyd Brown.
Franklin was born November 14, 1949 in Ada, Oklahoma to RD Russell and Inez M. (Roulston) Russell. He was baptized at Vamoosa Baptist Church, and he graduated from Vamoosa High School. He proudly served in the Army during the Vietnam War. Franklin married Alice Brooks, and he was a heavy equipment operator for Circle 9 Resources. He loved to travel and to go camping.
He is survived by the love of his life for thirty-eight years, Alice Russell of the home; one son, Ryan Russell and wife, Shelby of Wyoming; two daughters, Cary Kramer of Konawa, and Kyla Russell of Ada; nine grandchildren, Alyssa, Zoey, Leo, Camden, Rylan, Raleigh, Kenzi, Logan, and Jessie; and three great grandchildren, Kensley, Ka’drien, and Za’riah.
He was preceded in death by his parents, RD and Inez Russell; one brother, Ron Russell, and one sister, Dixie Flora.
