10Longtime Cromwell resident Frank Lloyd McCalla passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2006 in Mississippi at the age of 78.rnrnHe was born on November 17, 1927 to Lloyd Harris and Nettie (Geiger) McCalla in Pawnee City, Nebraska. He married Mary (Hunter) on November 26, 1949 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. rnrnFrank was a retired marine sergeant where he served during WWII and the Korean Conflict he received three purple hearts, Navy Occupational Medal, Good Conduct Medal, China Service Medal, Victory Medal, Korean Service Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal and the United Nations Medal. rnrnHe was an Agriculture Instructor and FFA advisor at Cromwell and Carney. He was also the director of Vo-Tech Center at the Lexington Correctional Facility, he taught in education for over thirty years. rnrnHe was a National Commander for the La Societe Des 40 Hommes Et 8 Chevaux (40 & 8). He was also a member of the DAV, American Legion, Military Order of the Purple Heart, VFW, Masons, Shriners, Elks Lodge of Seminole, and OEA. rnrnHe is survived by his wife of the home, Mary McCalla, two sons and a daughter-in-law, Frank David McCalla of Drumright, Oklahoma, Rob Roy and Jane McCalla of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, daughter and son-in-law: Nancy and Scott Abercrombie of Aurora, California, brother and sister-in-law: William and Evelyn McCalla of Studio City, California, sister and brother-in-law: Anna Lou and Tom Howard of Glendale, California, Florence Tugwell of Studio City, California, and Mary Adkins of Van Nuys, California. Four grandchildren and three great grandchildren also survive him.rnrnFuneral Services are scheduled for 10:00am, Monday, November 20, 2006 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Clay Pettis officiating. Interment will be held at 2:00pm at Fort Sill National Cemetery in Lawton, Oklahoma with military honors.rnrnFormer FFA boys and sweethearts will be pallbearers and honorary pallbearers.rnrnIn lieu of flowers donations may be made to the J.D.
