Frank “Lillard” Berry, age 84 and a resident of Konawa, Oklahoma, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Mercy Hospital of Ada, Oklahoma. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at the Church of Christ of Konawa. Richard Winters will officiate, and cremation is under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa. Honorary casket bearers are Mike Boren, Carl Wyatt, Billie Riggles, Roger McClure, Donnie Kiker, Kenneth Kiker, and Monte Yerby. Lillard was born January 10, 1932 in Konawa to Frank Leslie Berry and Hazel (Finch) Berry. After college, he became a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service and was a member of the Church of Christ of Konawa. Lillard served his country in the National Guard during the Korean conflict, and he married Shirley R. McLeister on July 31, 1953 in Konawa. Lillard loved to work in his garden, and golfing, and most of all, he loved to tell his “fly boy stories” of his military flying experiences. He is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Shirley R. Berry of the home; one son, Darrell Berry of Norman, Oklahoma; two daughters, Debbie Millican and husband, Afton of Konawa, and Denise Sharp and husband Max of Konawa; one brother, Herman Berry of El Sobrante, California; one sister, Willa Dean Elliot of Albuquerque, New Mexico; nine grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Leslie Berry; mother, Hazel Helton; step-father, Otis Helton; step-mother, Maudie Berry; and two sisters, Alla Lee DeWeber and Jean Price.
