Floyd Jenkins, 72, Allen, Oklahoma resident, died February 16, 2012 in Midwest City, Oklahoma.He was born on July 1, 1939 to Clarence and Viola Jenkins in Mansfield, Louisana. Floyd was the second oldest of 16 children. Floyd attended Desota High School and Grambling State University where he played basketball, football and baseball. He excelled in athletics and continued to play basketball at the semi-professional level for Maddock Ice and various other teams over the years. Floyd met and married the former Rovan Morrison and they were married for 48 years and had one child. His daughter, Joyce (Stella) Ann Garret, preceded him in death. Floyd worked for the Civil Government for over 30 years in various positions including optics and pest control at the McAlester Army Ammunition Depot in McAlester, Oklahoma before he retired in 1993. Floyd was very active in the church and was an ordained Deacon for over 25 years through his passing. He was a very loving, kind, loyal, compassionate man, who loved and lived his life for God. He had a heart for people and never met a stranger for he embraced all people. He leaves to cherish his loving memory, his wife Rovan and granddaughters, Mia Spring and Marisa Garrett and great granddaughters Sharee Garrett all of Englewood, Colorado. Thirteen brothers and sisters, Horace Jenkins and his wife Shirley of Sacramento, Calif., Shirley Abraham, Will Jenkins, Sr. and wife Sophia of Denver, Colorado, William, Teresa, Adkins and Patricia Jenkins, Rodrick Jenkins and his wife Tanya and Angela Jenkins of Mansfield, LA., Wanda McMillon and her husband Booker of Shreveport, La, Lena McMillon and husband Emmitt of Keatchie, LA; Marilyn Dotson of Elbert, La; Kathlynn Barnes and husband Eddie, Sr. of Spring, Texas; and Ernestine Williams and husband Charles of Houston, Texas, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Clarence Jenkins Sr., and brothers Jack and Clarence Jenkins Jr. Funeral services are planned for 11:00 A.M., Saturday, February 25, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Wewoka, Oklahoma with burial at St. Matthews Cemetery east of Seminole, Oklahoma. Rev. Larkin Byrd will officiate at the service. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
