Floyd Dorris “Buck” Buchanan, age 79 and a life-long resident of Konawa, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday, January 17, 2019 at his home. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 21, 2019 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa, Oklahoma, and burial will follow at Konawa Cemetery. Rev. Ed Bray, Pastor of Cross Timbers Church in Konawa will officiate. Casket bearers are Terry Rush, Gordon Lowrey, Kenneth Payne, Otis Gilbert, Tony Kuestersteffen, and Ronnie Buchanan. Honorary bearers are Bobby Kuestersteffen, Roger Turnbow, Herb Buchanan, James Buchanan, and Dave Green. Buck was born December 17, 1939 in Konawa to W.M. Buchanan and Emma (Berry) Buchanan. He graduated from Konawa High School, and worked most of his life as a derrick hand in the oilfield industry. He married Susie Jane Johnson on July 15, 1966 in Konawa, and he was a member of Cross Timbers Church of Konawa. He loved coon hunting, and training dogs. His grandchildren meant the world to him, and he loved watching Courtney play softball. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Susie Buchanan; one son, Chris Buchanan and wife, Leigh of Darnestown, Maryland; one daughter, Berneda Capps of Konawa; and four grandchildren, Courtney Duck, and Caleb, Connor, and Brooke Taylor Buchanan. He was preceded in death by his parents, W.M. and Emma Buchanan; four brothers, J.W., Wilburn, Earnest, and William, Jr. Buchanan; two sisters, Bonnie Graham, and Ethel Lambert; and one son-in-law, Bill Capps.
