Florena Gale (Farley) Blackwood

Florena Gale (Farley) Blackwood, age 88 passed away on Friday, February 17, 2012, at Grady Memorial Hospital in Chickasha, Oklahoma. Florena was born on May 9, 1923, in Louisville, Kansas, to James Henry Farley and Jenettie Jane (Holloway) Farley.  She was a homemaker and a longtime resident of Konawa, Oklahoma before moving to Chickasha in 2005.  She was a member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation and the Pentecostal Holiness Church of Konawa. Florena married Wincle Allen Flowers in Farris, Oklahoma in July, 1939.  This marriage ended in divorce, and Wincle preceded her in death in 1968.  She married Oral Brown “Blackie” Blackwood in Fort Smith, Arkansas, on August 9, 1952.  Blackie preceded her in death in 1981.  She is also preceded in death by her parents, James and Jenettie Farley; two brothers and two sisters; three children, Florena “Sue” Blackwood Graham, Jerry Ray Flowers, and Don Allen Flowers; two grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Survivors include five children, Elva (Flowers) Moore, James L. Flowers, Jackie W. Flowers and wife, Tresa, Ramona (Blackwood) Soos and husband John, and Thelma (Blackwood) Collinsworth and husband, Dale; one daughter-in-law, Drinda Flowers; niece Lorena Rector; 16 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. We are all thankful for the life of our beloved mother and grandmother.  Our loss will be felt for years to come.  She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 22, 2012, at the Pentecostal Holiness Church located at 126 N. Konawa St. in Konawa, Oklahoma, under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa.  Rev. Mona Fulks will officiate.  Burial will follow at Wanette Cemetery in Wanette, Oklahoma.  Pallbearers will be Jackie W. Flowers, Thomas G. Flowers, Thomas J. Payne, Andy R. Smith, Michael J.
