Florada (Wiggins) Woodfork

February 12, 1927 — June 3, 2020

Seminole

Florada Wiggins was born to George Wiggins and Mabel Gaines on February 12th, 1927 in Seminole, Oklahoma, where she was raised and has lived for 93 beautiful years. She had one sibling Catherine who preceded her in death.  During her school years she attended Booker T. Washington School.

Florada was a mother of four children. She worked hard for her family. She was employed as a provider caring for the elderly for many years. During her young life she married Eugene Woodfork, and while married, she became a widow.

Florada gave her life to Christ and became a member of Galilee Baptist Church. She was a true woman of God and loved the Lord with all her heart, mind and strength. She was devoted and actively a part of the Women's Mission and Choir. After the dissolution of Galilee, she later attended Ebenezer Baptist Church. Florada loved to write, when she did, she penned in the lost art of cursive writing. She would orate powerful poems about God in Sunday Service. You could always find her reading. A getaway for her to relax was by the water to fish. She always knew all the good spots. She enjoyed music and singing, and could even cut a rug or two! Florada got down in the kitchen and could make a meal out of anything, making it a feast. Her bed was an island by itself, anyone young or old would venture there guaranteed to find an oasis with the sandman. She loved and lived for family. Only she could make you feel and know that you were her “my baby” as only she could say. With that unforgettable smile, and undeniable laugh both so soothing you instantly felt better. Even in the last several months as she was not well and had several stays in the hospital. She still laughed, smiled, fought the good fight of Faith. She made it known she made her peace with God and was ready when it was time. All that love she had for each one of us, extended family and friends, carries on forever. As you will look around, you will see her in each of one of us, her essence and presence is still here. Preceded by her in death, her parents Mabel Gaines, George Wiggins, sister Catherine, Husband Eugene Woodfork, son James Bernard Freeman (J.B.) Colbert Sr, daughter Lillian Ruth Johnson, Aunt Addie Bell Wynn (who raised her), her grandmother Jane Moore.
