Finis E. Impson, former Konawa and Lawton resident, passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at Valley View Regional Hospital in Ada at the age of 75.rnrnHe was born July 29, 1932 in Antlers, OK to Dickie John Impson and Myrtle (Bohanon) Impson.rnrnFinis attended Goodland Indian School.rnrnHe enlisted the the United States Marine Corps on July 8, 1952. He served his country during the Korean War and attained the rank of Corporal before receiving an honorable discharge on July 7, 1955. rnrnFinis was a barber for over 18 years at Fort Sill and later retired from IHS in Lawton. He also drove a cab part time in Lawton.rnrnHe married Ruby M. Harjo on November 25, 1967 in Konawa.rnrnHe was a member of the Lawton Indian Mission, the Disabled American Veterans and was a Choctaw Tribal member.rnrnHe is survived by his wife, Ruby M. (Harjo) Impson of Konawa; rnrntwo sons, Paul E. "Bunky" Impson of Gerty, OK and Calvin W. Harjo of Ada; rnrnone daughter, Cyndi George of Konawa; rnrnsix sisters, Emily Wolf and Marjie Impson, both of McAlester, OK; Leona Wilson of Chickasha, OK; Ann Impson of Talihina, OK, Sophia L. Impson of Krebs, OK and Claudine Wheeler of Mesquite, TX; rnrneight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends.rnrnHe was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers and one sister.rnrnFuneral services will be held Saturday, May 17, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at Swearingen Funeral Chapel in Konawa with Bro.
