Evert Edward Anderson, 92, longtime Maud and St. Louis area resident, died, Saturday, April 18, 2015 at the Seminole Care and Rehab Center. Evert was born January 21, 1923 at home in Pottawatomie County to Sarah Francis (McBroom) and Willie E. Anderson. Evert grew up in the St. Louis and Maud area and attended school there. He worked for O’Daniel’s grocery for over 30 years as a butcher and meat market manager. While working there he enjoyed delivering groceries to families and visiting with them and helping them with anything they needed around their homes. The family remember him as a loving man who felt that,” giving back to the community and helping people was more important than money”. The family has fond memories of his love and devotion to each of them, and the fun they had with him. Evert loved gardening, attending bluegrass festivals, raising chickens, rabbits and building things from scratch. He literally was a “jack of all trades”. He loved horses and rode with the Maud Roundup Club in parades and events, while he was a member of the club. He married Lillian (Housdon) Anderson on September 11, 1942 at the court house in Konawa, Oklahoma. They have been happily married for 72 years.
