Evelyn Hughes Taylor, age 89, passed from this life Thursday, November 1, 2007 at Seminole Estates Nursing Center in Seminole, Oklahoma. Evelyn was born October 1, 1918 in Konawa, Oklahoma to parents Greear and Ivor (Ward) Hughes. She was a life long Seminole County resident.rnrnShe married her husband Sam Taylor on October 16, 1940 in Konawa, Oklahoma. Sam was taken into the U.S. Army, July 7, 1942 and served in the Pacific and European Theaters of War and returned on November 28, 1945, Sam preceded her in death on June 20, 1984.rnrnEvelyn was baptized into the Baptist Church on August 7, 1937 by Rev. Branch Comb. She graduated from Central High School (Maud) in May of 1938. Evelyn was initiated into the Friendship Rebekah Lodge # 224 on February 13, 1956 and served in all of the chairs, and was a past Noble Grand in 1961. She served as a home room Mother and belonged to the P.T.A., the Homemakers club from 1957 to 1969, and a Camp Fire Girls Leader from 1972 to 1982, receiving a plaque for outstanding leadership for 10 years in Campfire. She worked with the 4-H Girls in demonstrations and fair exhibits. After her high school years she attended Miami Junior College and East Central College. She also served in the American Legion Auxiliary.rnrnShe is preceded in death by her husband, parents, her brother Ed Lee Hughes, and Sister Connie Young.rnrnShe is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Marvin and Pat Taylor of San Antonio, Texas and Robert and Debbie Taylor of Midwest City, Oklahoma, two daughters and sons-in-law, Gayle and Mark Redding of Eufaula, Oklahoma and Jean Ann and Mitch Worley of Seminole, Oklahoma. She is also survived by one brother and sister-in-law, John H. and Dale Hughes of Lexington, Oklahoma, one brother-in-law, Dock Young of Norman, Oklahoma and a sister-in-law, Virginia Hughes of Waco, Texas. Seven Grandchildren, Lynn Taylor, Angela Taylor, Derick Worley, Shannon Redding and Wife Chamie, Jason Redding and Wife Cassi, Amanda Worley and Josh Worley.rnrn4 Great Grandchildren, Zachary Redding, Haley Redding, Tyler Whetstone and Chance Holcomb.rnrnrnFuneral Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M.
