Evelena Street

Longtime Shawnee resident Evelena D. Street passed away on Thursday, February 24, 2011 in Shawnee at the age of 87. Evelena was born on September 23, 1923 in Konawa, Oklahoma to Caleb Ross Ingram and Viola Falva (Pullen) Ingram. Evelena met her husband Sammy Street while he was serving in the U.S. Army during WWII, she was a young lady working as a car hop in Galveston, Texas.  They were married on August 3, 1942 in Galveston and were married for over 63 years.  She loved to play canasta and played in a card group.  She was a faithful member of the Wallace Avenue Baptist Church in Shawnee. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She leaves to cherish her memories three sons and daughters-in-law: Charles and Beth Street, Danny and wife Cathy Street, Keith and Michelle Street and  and two daughters and sons-in-law: Janice and husband Kenton Rethford and Susie and husband Greg Loman.  She is also survived by grandchildren; Chris, Josh, Brandon, Scot, Rebecca, Justin, Morgan, Dace and Tyler, and great grandchildren; Briana, Bailey, Braden, Rhiannon, Westyn, Sawyer, Charlie and Sam. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at Resthaven Memorial Park in Shawnee, Oklahoma with J.D. Cunningham officiating.
