Evalyn Lee (Blackwood) Maxwell , age 74 and a long-time resident of Konawa, Oklahoma passed away OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City on Sunday, April 18, 2021.
A graveside service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at Vamoosa Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa. Pastor Lisa Miller of the First United Methodist Church of Konawa will officiate, and Evalyn’s nephews will serve as casket bearers.
Evalyn was born July 25, 1946 in Konawa to Limon Lee Blackwood and Tenna Evalina (Smith) Blackwood. After graduating from Vamoosa High School, Evalyn earned her degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She married Loyd Eugene Maxwell on May 9, 1964 in Vamoosa, and she and Loyd attended the First United Methodist Church of Konawa. Evalyn loved to sew and to quilt, and she will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her husband of fifty-six years, Loyd Maxwell of the home; one son, William Byron Maxwell of St. Louis, Missouri; one daughter, Laura Lee Maxwell of Konawa; one brother, Jo Andy Blackwood of Konawa and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Limon and Tenna Blackwood; one son, Randolph Maxwell; one brother, Virgil Blackwood; and one sister, Lois Huff.
