Eva Mae Simpson-Cooper

November 27, 1952 — May 13, 2018

Eva Mae (Simpson) Cooper, 65 year old Seminole, Oklahoma resident, passed from this life into eternal life on Sunday, May 13, 2018 at St. Anthony Hospital in Shawnee, Oklahoma.  She was born November 27, 1952 in Seminole, Oklahoma to parents J.C. Simpson Sr. and Virginia (Dial) Simpson. Eva graduated from Pleasant Grove High School located in Seminole County, Oklahoma in 1971.  She went on to earn her Associate Degree from Seminole State College. Eva enjoyed children so much that she worked as a Head Start Teacher at Barking Waters Seminole Nation Child Development Center in Wewoka, Oklahoma.  Eva was the first Childcare Specialist in Oklahoma. Eva had attended St. Matthews Church east of Seminole and later she attended Nelson Chapel in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Eva was a member of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma (the Mekusukey Band). Eva leaves to cherish her memory one son, Marcus Simpson-Cooper and his wife Kristi Cooper of Coyle, Oklahoma; two step-daughters, Shaunna Lynn Cooper of Del City, Oklahoma and Shannon McAlester and her husband Ervin McAlester of Del City, Oklahoma; one brother, J.C. Simpson Jr. of Seminole, Oklahoma; one sister, JoAnn Tubbs and her husband Jerry Tubbs of Meeker, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Jachin Cooper and Beckham Cooper both of Coyle, Oklahoma; Eva is also survived by a host of other family including nieces. nephews, cousins and many dear friends. Eva was preceded in death by her parents, J.C. Simpson Sr. and Virginia (Dial) Simpson.  She was also preceded in death by five sisters, Vivian Farris, Sophie Quarles, Mary Hardiman, Doris Phillips Hubbard and Rose White; by two brothers, Curtis Simpson and James “Whoops” Simpson. Funeral Services are scheduled for 1:00 P.M., Saturday, May 19, 2018 at the First Baptist Church located at 420 Reid Street in Seminole, Oklahoma, with Rev. Larry Payne officiating the service.  Interment will follow at Sowatske Cemetery located just east of Seminole. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
