Eugene "Sonny" Lindsay

Eugene Pace "Sonny" Lindsay, 77 year old longtime Seminole, Oklahoma resident, passed from this life on Monday, June 11, 2018 at Seminole Care and Rehabilitation Center.  He was born in Seminole, Oklahoma on July 10, 1940 to parents Willie Lindsay and Lizzie (Coody) Lindsay. Sonny was a member of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma (the Mekvsukey Band). Sonny attended Pleasant Grove Public School in Seminole County.  He was also a member of the Gar Creek Ceremonial Grounds. He had worked in the oilfield as a floor hand for Joe Mills Well Service for many years. Survivors include 2 brothers, Walter Lindsay of Seminole, Oklahoma, Jimmy Lindsay and his wife Peggy of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; 1 sister, Augustine Lindsay of Earlsboro, Oklahoma; by a host of nieces, nephews and other family and dear friends, including a niece Lucinda Lindsay of Earlsboro, Oklahoma and nephew Tracy Lindsay of Tecumseh, Oklahoma who Sonny helped raise. Sonny is preceded in death by his parents, Lizzie and Willie Lindsay, by 4 brothers Bobby Jack Spencer, Charles Lindsay, Alex Lindsay and Thomas Lindsay.  He was also preceded in death by 2 sisters Mary Ann (Lindsay) Crane and Bertha (Lindsay) Deere. Wake services will be held Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Swearingen Funeral Chapel from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with Rev. Bill Merritt officiating. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dorsey Nero officiating.  Interment will follow at Little Cemetery. Casket Bearers will be the men of Gar Creek Ceremonial Grounds. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
