Esther Phillis

Esther Geneieve Phillis, long time Seminole county resident passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at Southwest Medical Center, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 80. Esther was born October 7, 1934 in Holdenville, Oklahoma to parents, George Stafford and Ethel (Arnold) Stafford. Esther married Clarence Phillis in Lyons, Kansas on June 11, 1982. Esther worked at Presbyterian Manor in Sterling and in Ulysses, Kansas in the health care field. Esther is survived by her husband; Clarence Phillis of Seminole, Oklahoma; two sons, Kevin Newman and his wife Shelly of Pratt, Kansas, Terry Newman and his wife Kris of Wichita, Kansas; one daughter-in-law, Jan Newman of Meeker, Oklahoma; three step children, Steve Phillis and his wife Christine of Garden City, Kansas, Ronnie Phillis of Garden City, Kansas, Linda Mulligan and her husband Bryan of Scott City, Kansas; two sisters, Pearl Smith of Woodward, Oklahoma, Muriel Pemberton of Seminole, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, Diana Newman, Joy Newman, Justin Newman, Levi Newman, Clay Mulligan, Trace Mulligan and Tyson Phillis. Esther was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Vaughn Newman; one sister, Jessie Hopkins; brothers, Lee Stafford, Felix Stafford, Pat Stafford, Floyd Stafford and Les Hennig. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 11, 2015 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Mark Hennen officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Susan G.
