Esther Marie Gentry, 94 Esther Gentry, lifelong Maud resident, passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at Integris Seminole Medical Center. Esther was born February 8, 1916 at Maud, Oklahoma to parents; J.C. and Mary T. (Mae) Slape Armstrong. Esther lived more than 50 years in Pottawatomie County where she was a housewife, and was of the Pentecostal faith, being a member of the Church of God. Esther married Leonard Gentry in Shawnee, Oklahoma on October 10, 1945, Leonard preceded her in death on May 23, 1984. Esther is survived by son; William C. Sims of Ratliff City, Oklahoma and daughter Joan Allen of Maud, Oklahoma, sister; Jean Lytle and her husband Owen of Maud, Oklahoma. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren; Randy Allen, Steve Allen, Jeffrey Allen, Wendy Stone and Sauney Davis. Fourteen great grandchildren and fourteen great great grandchildren also survive Esther. Esther was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Leonard Gentry, 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Funeral services for Esther will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 12, 2010 at the Open Door Church of God in Shawnee, Oklahoma. The church is located at 1200 N. Tucker, Shawnee, Oklahoma. Rev. Sidney Freeman will officiate being assisted by Rev. James Douglas. Burial will take place at Cummings Cemetery, Maud, Oklahoma. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers and honorary bearer is Owen Lytle. Visitation for Esther will begin Thursday, February 11, 2010 at Knight Swearingen Funeral Home of Maud, Oklahoma.
