Esther Chastain

Esther Joy Chastain, 83 Esther Joy Chastain, Shawnee, Oklahoma resident and former long time Seminole county resident, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2018 in Shawnee, Oklahoma at the age of 83. Esther was born April 1, 1934 in Pelsor, Arkansas to parents, C.L. Remer and Wilsie Mae (Standridge) Remer. Esther graduated high school and attended Oklahoma Baptist University of Shawnee, Oklahoma. Esther married Dayne Chastain on August 6, 1955 in Seminole, Oklahoma. Dayne passed away May 21, 2009. Esther was a housewife, mother and a member of Highway Baptist Church of Little, Oklahoma. As a member of the church, Esther taught in Vacation Bible School, Ladies Sunday School class and where ever there was a task to be done she never hesitated to step in and do her best. In preparing for her Bible Study Class for Sunday morning she would begin preparation on Monday. She did not Google or use the internet in preparing her class, it was through devoted prayer, Bible study and good old fashion research that she was a great Bible teacher. Esther is survived by two daughters, Gay Geer and her husband Mark of Lawton, Oklahoma, Delight Sebourn of Shawnee, Oklahoma; one twin brother Lester Remer of Ada, Oklahoma. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Chris Geer and his wife Laura, Kirk Geer and his wife Eliza, Dayna Reust and her husband Matt, Brandi Liles, Nick Sebourn and nine great grandchildren. Esther was preceded in death by her parents, C.L. and Wilsie Remer; husband, Dayne Chastain; two sisters and one brother; son-in-law Rick Sebourn. Memorial services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 19, 2018 at Highway Baptist Church with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating.
