Errol Duane Bruner , age 65 and a resident of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma passed away peacefully surrounded by family members at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City on October 11, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa, Oklahoma. Pastor, Walter Whitney will officiate, and burial will follow at the Bruner Family Cemetery near Konawa. Casket bearers are Bryant Bruner, Rodney Henderson, Hosea Henderson, Willie Henderson, David Young, Marcus Bruner, Ryan Viney, Brock Viney, and Johnny Henderson. Honorary bearers are Hosea Henderson, Charles Bruner, Jr., Michael Bruner, and Rodney Henderson. Flower bearers are Erica Hornbeck, Geneva Henderson, Tammi Branton, Kimberly Bruner, Ira Viney, and Chianti Henderson.
Errol was born May 25, 1956 in Oklahoma City to Johnnie Bruner and Geneva (Nero) Bruner. He attended Walnut Grove Elementary and graduated from Central High School in Oklahoma City, and he attended Rose State College. Errol was the founder of Errol’s Metal Scrap Business where he dedicated a lot of his time for the past fourteen years. He was a member of the City Church located in Oklahoma City. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Konawa, Oklahoma. He continued his walk with Christ at the City Church in downtown Oklahoma City. Errol enjoyed playing sports during his educational years. Besides spending time with his family and friends, he enjoyed watching sports, exercising, and spending time with his two dogs, Penney and Lexus who were cared for by him. He will be remembered for his smile, sense of humor, compassion for others, and unfailing work ethics.
He leaves to cherish his memories, two brothers, Bryant Bruner and wife, Mary, and David Young; two sisters, Rebecca Henderson and husband, Willie, and Charlesetta Branton all of Oklahoma City; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie and Geneva Bruner; step-father, Eddie Young; paternal grandparents, Charlie and Sona Bruner; maternal grandparents, Abe and Jannet Nero; five brothers, John D. Bruner, Joseph W. Bruner, Charles B. Bruner, Jackie L. Bruner, and Michael D. Bruner.
