Ernestine Dacus, 79, Seminole resident, died Friday, March 3, 2017 in Seminole, Oklahoma. Ernestine was born September 27, 1937 in Mountain Home, Arkansas to Henry Powers and Emily Jane ( Taylor) Powers. Ernestine worked for over 22 years at the Wonder Bread Outlet in Seminole, Oklahoma and after her retirement she worked for American Exchange Bank for 5 years. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Lindsay, Oklahoma; she was formerly a member of the Walnut Street Church of Christ in Seminole. She loved cooking and was a great baker. She loved sewing, gardening, picking up pecans, traveling and being with her family. She is survived by her husband Earl Dacus of Seminole, Oklahoma,( which she married on August 4, 2001, in Lindsay, Oklahoma),her son, Jack Lane and his wife Paula of McKinney, Texas, her daughter Linda Pennington and her husband Phillip of Seminole, Oklahoma, brother Vernon Powers of Phoenix, Arizona , three sisters, Barbara McCoy of McLoud, Oklahoma, Sylvia Adair of Girard, Kansas, Wilma Smith of Ashflat, Arkansas, three grandchildren Marva Stone and her husband Victor, Lori Madrid, Tina Richards and her husband Trevor, seven great grandchildren; Dawn Clower, Ryan Stone, Gabi Madrid, Brianna Madrid, Max Madrid, Mason Richards and Carter Richards, eight children from her marriage to Earl Dacus and 25 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Jack H. Lane, who died in 1997 and was the father of her children, two brothers Virgil Powers and Duane Powers and a grandson Ryan Pennington. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel, with Terry Newell officiating. Burial will be at Holdenville Cemetery in Holdenville, Oklahoma. Casket bearers will be Lori Madrid, Victor Stone, Trevor Richards, Tom Graham, Clark Graham, David Dacus. Honorary bearers will be Carter and Mason Richards, Ryan Stone and Dawn Clower.
