Ernest Bruce Holt, age 88, passed away at his home in Asher, Oklahoma, surrounded by his family. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 11, 2018, at First Baptist Church in Asher under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Wanette Cemetery. Rev. Dwayne Johnson will officiate, and casket bearers are Chase Everett, Will Hunt, Hudson Holt, Brad Holt, Steve Holt, and Cooper Hunt. Ernest was born May 12, 1930, in Oklahoma City to Theodore Ernest Holt and Archie Lucille (Butts) Holt. He graduated from Asher High School, and married Lessie “Lee” Speers June 7, 1948, in Purcell, Oklahoma. Ernest was a member of the First Baptist Church of Asher. He was a farmer and a cattle rancher all of his life, and he loved sports. Most of all, he loved his grandchildren. He is survived by three sons, Ted Holt and wife, Evelyn of Ada, Oklahoma; Tracy Holt and wife, Brenda of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Robert “Bob” Holt of Asher; two daughters, Dixie Hunt and husband, Kelly of Ada, and Shelly Everett of Asher; eleven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Archie Holt; his wife, Lee Holt; one son, Bruce Alan Holt; and one sister, Betty Boyles.
