Enoch Elijah Cook, Jr. 82 year-old Seminole County resident passed from this life September 1, 2008 at his home in Seminole. He was born September 7, 1925 in Stilwell, Oklahoma to parents Enoch Elijah Cook, Sr. and Emma Beatrice (Deffenbaugh) Cook.rnrnCook retired as a contract pipeliner in 1988. He had lived in Seminole on and off for years living 15 years in Vernal, Utah and moving back to Seminole 12 years ago. He had attended both Bowlegs and Maud Schools before entering the United States Marine Corps. During his time in the service he had earned the rank of Corporal. He had served in the Asiatic Pacific Area from May 2, 1944 to June 9, 1945. Cook received the ?Purple Heart? commendation because he was wounded in action April 28, 1945 in Okinawa. He participated in action against the enemy at Okinawa Shima, Ryukyu Islands from April 1, 1945 to May 2, 1945. He was issued the honorable service lapel button and the United States Marine Corps Honorable Discharge Button.rnrnSurvivors include one son and daughter-in-law, James M. ?Jim? and Emma Cook of Seminole, Oklahoma; two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan ?Sue? and Thiel Kunz of Salt Lake City, Utah and Janice and David Medlin of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; one sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Claude Roche of Tomball, Texas. 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends also survive Cook.rnrnCook is preceded in death by his parents; his former wife, Juanita Wetsel Cook who died in April 3 of 2004 he is also preceded by two sisters, Alma Comer and Freda Click.rnrnGraveside services with full Military Honors are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 5, 2008 at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole, Oklahoma.rnrnServices are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home ?
