Emma Jean Harjo, age 81 and a resident of Konawa, Oklahoma passed away on Friday, December 19, 2014 at Seminole Care and Rehab. A Wake service is scheduled from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Sunday, December 21, 2014 at Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa, and funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 22, 2014 at the funeral home Chapel. Rev. Arthur Carpitcher and Rev. Dorsey Nero will officiate. Burial will follow at Emarthle Family Cemetery. Pallbearers are Travis Harjo, Tyler Harjo, Michael Hudson, Nelvin Hudson, Leo Payne, and Ricky Harjo. Emma was born on December 25, 1932 in Konawa to Wisey Emarthle, and graduated from Haskell in Lawrence Kansas. She became a Certified Medication Aide and worked at New Horizon Nursing Home of Konawa until her retirement. She attended Cold Spring Baptist Church and loved to shop at garage sales and the Salvation Army. Her favorite place to eat was at the Blue Moon Café in Ada. Emma was fond of red roses and attending gospel singings. Emma also liked to fix red beans and sauerkraut on Sundays. She always loved to have her home decorated for the holidays, and she loved to be with her grandchildren. She leaves behind to cherish her memories, two sons, David Harjo of Lawton, Oklahoma and Marcus Harjo of Konawa; one daughter, Cindy Hudson of Seminole, Oklahoma; two brothers, Frank Harjo of Konawa and LeRoy King of Clewiston, Florida; one sister, Lucy Tiger of Konawa; two great uncles, Johnny and Tommy Emarthle; six grandchildren, five great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Angela Harjo; two brothers, Eastmon Harjo, and Dave Walter; and one sister, Geneva Douglas.
