Elvin Sanders, 50, Shawnee, Oklahoma resident, and formerly of Seminole, died Monday, June 9, 2014 in Shawnee. Elvin was born on October 17, 1963 in Tallulah, Louisiana to Darlean (Myles) and Simon Sanders, Jr. Elvin moved to the Shawnee area ten years ago from Ardmore, Oklahoma, he worked for Whataburger restaurant in Shawnee, Oklahoma as a short order cook. Elvin is survived by three sons; Tory McDonald of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Alex Riggle and Cole Riggle of Shawnee, Oklahoma; two daughters Whitney Dawkins of Denton, Texas and LaTrinity Wright of Shawnee, Oklahoma; two brothers, John Taylor of Ardmore, Oklahoma and Roosevelt Stewart of Louisiana; seven sisters; Doris Myles of Ardmore, Oklahoma, Katherine Stubblefield of Illinois, Mary Owens of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Joyce Baker of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Carrie Horton of Ardmore, Oklahoma, Ruby Brown of Illinois and Deborah Sanders of South Carolina. He was preceded by his father Simon Sanders Jr., and mother Darlean (Myles) Rankin, two sisters Ellen Sanders and Gloria Myles. Funeral services are planned for 11:00 A. M., Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at the Galliee Baptist Church, 1025 E. 9th Street in Shawnee, Oklahoma with Rev. Darryl Wingo and Rev. Anthony Rhone officiating. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
