Elvie "Don" Ramsey

Elvie "Don" Ramsey , age 78 and a resident of Konawa, Oklahoma passed away August 18, 2022 at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City.

A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa.  Rev. Mitch Williams will officiate.  A registration book is available for signing at the funeral home.

Don was born February 6, 1944 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Royal L. Ramsey and Frances Sara (Freeman) Ramsey.  He graduated high school from McLish, Oklahoma and attended college at Okmulgee, Oklahoma.  He proudly served in the U.S. Army, and he married Shirley Jean Miller on January 6, 1968 in Oklahoma City.  He was a machinist for OG&E electric company until his retirement.  Don loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.  He also loved hunting, fishing, golfing, socializing at the coffee shop, and joking with anyone.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Shirley Ramsey of the home; two sons, Ray Ramsey and wife, Christie of Wichita, Kansas, and David Ramsey and wife, Amanda of Caseyville, Illinois; one daughter, Kimberly Jones and husband, Michael of Sulphur, Oklahoma; two brothers, Donald Ray Ramsey and wife, Alta of Shawnee, Oklahoma, and Charles Ramsey and wife, Rita of Mountrose, Colorado; eleven grandchildren, Freddie, Katie, Mikey, Megan, Mitchell, Dalton, Chole, Clayton, Danielle, Alaya, and Kylee; eight great grandchildren, Bentley, Cora, Johnny, Kellen, Eli, Creed, MaeMae, and Lux; and many other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Gerald Ramsey.
