Elva Doshier-Hays, 89 year-old, Tecumseh resident and former Seminole resident passed from this life Monday, October 31, 2011 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  She was born February 28, 1922 in Boonville, Arkansas to parents Dewey Quinalty and Almedia (Martin) Quinalty. Elva married Fred Doshier on February 3, 1939 and together they began a family that consisted of eight children.  Elva was a homemaker and the matriarch of the family, lovingly known as momma, grandma and "GiGi".  She was also an outstanding seamstress.  Sadly Fred preceded her in death on October 14, 1982 after 43 years of marriage. Then in 1999 she married Roy Hays in Shawnee, Oklahoma and he preceded her in death on November 15, 2008. Elva was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bowlegs, Oklahoma.  She was also an independent member of the Odd Fellows Lodge #271 in Shawnee, Oklahoma.  Elva was a very patriotic woman who also served as past president of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary post #260 in Tecumseh, Oklahoma where she had a passion for the poppy program; she was recognized both State and Nationally for her hard work and dedication.  At the same time she was a member of the “40 & 8” branch of the American Legion and with them she would perform various community services. Elva leaves to cherish her memory and legacy four sons and daughters-in-law, Freddie and Dorothy Doshier of Lindsey, Oklahoma, Jerry and Anice Doshier of Seminole, Oklahoma, Larry Doshier of Tecumseh, Oklahoma and Ronald and Jeannette Doshier of Anchorage, Alaska; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kay and Albert Contreras of Edmond, Oklahoma and Betty and Jeff Anderson of Hannibal, Missouri; one sister, Margaret Lee of Seminole, Oklahoma; 22 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and dear friends. Elva was preceded in death by her father, Dewey Quinalty; her mother, Almedia (Martin) Quinalty; husband, Fred Doshier (Oct. 14, 1982);husband, Roy Hays (Nov. 15, 2008); two daughters, Donna Foldvik (Nov. 2, 2009) and infant RosaLou Doshier (Jan. 6, 1942); one brother, J.D. Quinalty; one sister, Imogene Riddle; one grandson, Freddie Lee Doshier, Jr. (1964); one granddaughter, Sharla Contreras Schooley (March 10, 2010); and by one great-grandson, Josh Luvrak (2009). The family will be receiving friends at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole on Thursday, November 3, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The casket will remain open until 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening. A memorial service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 4, 2011 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole with (son-in-law) Pastor Jeff Anderson officiating.  Interment will follow at Little Cemetery.
