Elsie Esther Morris, 101, longtime Seminole resident, passed away, Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Seminole Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Orlando, Oklahoma, a German community between Guthrie and Perry, on August 2, 1918 to a German immigrant, Karl Schall and his first generation American Wife, Esther Martha (Glockler) Schall. Elsie was a 1937 Graduate of Seminole High School. Elsie was a longtime Assistant Vice President at the First Federal Savings and Loan in Seminole for over 39 years before her retirement in 1979. She had also worked for Poplin-Harber Insurance Agency for 3 years. Elsie was a longtime faithful member of the First Christian Church in Seminole, where she was the organist for 50 years. She was a charter member of the Seminole Business and Professional Women, serving as president two times and as District Director. She was also a member of the Christian Women’s Fellowship. She married Claude I. Morris on July 15, 1962 and he preceded her in death in 2000. Mrs. Morris is survived by her sons; Ronald E. Morris of El Cerrito, California and Charles Morris and his wife Janet of Points Roberts, Washington, her grandchildren; Peter Morris and Katie Roberts and her husband Richard, and four great grandchildren; Charlotte, Gracie, Rickie and Charlie, she is also survived by her niece; Karla Colle and her husband Tom and their daughter Beth. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Claude I. Morris, her brother, Fritz Schall, nephew Michael Schall, and grandson Jeffery Johnston Morris. Funeral Services are planned for 10:00 A.M., Saturday, September 7, 2019 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, with Rev. Glen Pence officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole, Oklahoma. Casket Bearers will be Leroy Poplin, Bill Parsons, Phil Biddy, Mark Sullivan, Don Morris, Tom Morris and Rick Geist. Honorary bearer will be C.M. Clark. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
