Ella Lorene (Gunn) Perry Ella Lorene (Gunn) Perry, 96, longtime Seminole resident died Thursday, March 3, 2011 at Seminole Care and Rehabilitation Center. Ella was born October 1, 1914 in the Excelisor community near Cromwell, Oklahoma to Garland Ross and Lou Ella Gunn. Mrs. Perry worked as a secretary for the Selective Service, Seminole Tag Agency and Halcoy Construction Company in Seminole. After her retirement she enjoyed gardening, fishing and playing with her grandchildren. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school in the children’s department for many years. Ella was also a member of the Seminole Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She had served in many offices of the chapter and served as Worthy Matron two times during her membership. She was also an active member of the Grand Chapter and served as an officer. Mrs. Perry is survived by her son Frank Perry of Seminole, Oklahoma and a daughter-in-law Sharon Perry of Seminole. One daughter and son-in-law Charlotte and Edward” Buzz” Gillespie of Seminole, Oklahoma. She is also survived by her grandchildren Dr. Bryan and Angie Perry of Edmond, Oklahoma, Todd and Heather Perry of Yukon, Oklahoma and Erin and Darcy Gillespie of Bethany, Oklahoma. Her great-grandchildren Jack and Jake Perry, Dillon and Sophie Perry and Zane and Luke Gillespie also survive her. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Minford Perry, her brothers Burt Gunn, Garland Gunn, Lloyd Gunn, Larence Gunn, Beverly Ross Gunn, and sisters Myrtle Aldridge and Lillie Robinson. Funeral Services will be Monday, March 7, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Wilburn and Rev. David Karges officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole. Casket bearers will be Bryan Perry, Todd Perry, Erin Gillespie, Dean Estes, Frank Perry and Edward “Buzz” Gillespie. Chris Sands will serve as an Honorary Bearer. Family request any memorial donations be made to the First United Methodist Church in Seminole.
