Elena Tiger

Elena Mae (Larney) Tiger, 76 year-old, life long Seminole resident passed from this life Thursday, August 19, 2010 at Seminole Hospital.  She was born in Seminole County on September 18, 1933 to parents Bunnie Larney and Louannie (Harjo) Larney. Elena graduated from Strother High School in 1950.  She later married Richmond “OOP” Tiger on June 7, 1953 at Hitchitee United Methodist Church. Elena worked for Tinker Air Force Base until her retirement in 1990.  She was also a longtime member of Hitchitee United Methodist Church and was active with the United Methodist Women’s group.  She was a proud member of the Seminole Nation – Ceyvha Band. Elena leaves to cherish her memory one son, Charles R. Tiger of Seminole, Oklahoma; three daughters, Regina F. Tiger and her husband Michael Phillips of Rockville, Maryland, Lavonna G. Tiger of Seminole, Oklahoma and Inetta L. Tiger of Rockville, Maryland; two brothers, Cecil R. Larney and his wife Jean of Seminole, Oklahoma and Bill R. Larney and his wife Janet of Ada, Oklahoma; two sisters, Stella J. Webster and her husband Richard of Ohio and Lovena M. Smith and her husband Mike of North Dakota; one sister-in-law, Elsie Tecumseh of Henryetta, Oklahoma; an uncle, Roley Harjo and his wife Beatrice of Shawnee, Oklahoma; one grandson, Russell S. Bear of Seminole, Oklahoma; and a host of other family and dear friends.  Her parents and her husband Richmond “OOP” Tiger who died on August 4, 2009 precede her in death. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Monday, August 23, 2010 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole.  Interment will follow at Hitchitee Church Cemetery.  Rev. Alvin Deer and Rev. Mike Harjo will officiate the service. Casket Bearers will be Howard Sarkechee, Houston Yeager, Russell Bear, Mike Bear, Mike Phillips, Kevin Larney and Kyle Larney. Honorary Bearers will be: Richard Webster, Jimmie Johnson, Jimmy Davis, Hershel Davis, Gary Montgomery and Jeremy Larney. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
