Eldridge Elmer Gordon

Eldridge Elmer Gordon, age 92 , a resident of Lima, Oklahoma, passed away Friday, May 17, 2019 at his son’s home in Oklahoma City. Funeral services are planned for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma.  Rev. W. E. Cooper will officiate, and burial will follow at Lima Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Victor Hubbard, Phillip Botsford and Masonic Lodge members. Honorary Pallbearers will be Otis Jackson, James Jackson, Monzell Louie, Kevin Posey, Jimmy Hill and Carlos Mitchell.  He will be given Military Honors and Masonic Rites. Eldridge was born May 10, 1927, in Lima, Oklahoma, to Felix Gordon and Willie Mae (Jackson) Gordon.  He graduated from Lima High School and worked as a painter.  He earned the rank of Sergeant for the U. S. Army in WWII. After his military career, he became employed with Tinker Air Force Base and retired after 33 years of service and earned several distinguished service awards. Eldridge was a devoted husband and father. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lima, Oklahoma where he served as a deacon for over 50 years until his health failed. He is survived by three sons, Eldridge Gordon, Jr., CPA  of Oklahoma City, Monroe Gordon, ASE of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma  and Mark Gordon, PA also of Oklahoma City; two brothers, Frank Gordon of Denver, Colorado, and Johnnie Gordon of Holdenville, Oklahoma; two sisters, Pearlie Gordon of Lima, and Francis Botsford of Seminole; two daughters-in-law, Doris Gordon and Sheryl Gordon; four grandchildren, Sheila Jordan and husband, Derrick; Eldridge E. “Jr.” Gordon, III; James T. Gordon, and Shanice Gordon; two great-grandchildren, Robert Turner and Trai Jordan; a host of nieces, nephew, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Willie Mae Gordon, and his wife of 64 years, Cozetta (Brewer) Gordon on February 23, 2015, two brothers and one sister.
