Elbert Eugene “ Gene” Bristow III, 45, lifelong Shawnee resident died Monday, October 17, 2011 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Gene was born July 7, 1966 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Bobby Joe and Bertha (McCray) Bristow. Gene grew up in Shawnee and attended schools there. He was a long haul truck driver for more than 30 years. He enjoyed country music, dancing and cutting up and when he was not on the road driving, he loved to spend time with his family. His Father, Bobby Joe Bristow Sr., preceded him in death along with paternal grandparents William L. and Evleyn A. Bristow and maternal grandparents D.O. and Inas McCray. He is survived by his mother Bertha Bristow-Anderson; his son Dennis E. Bristow, two stepsons, Jessie McCullough and Paul Wilmouth, two daughters Jennifer LeAnn Bristow and Jeannie Marie Bristow and two stepdaughters Amy McCullough and Kathryn Keith. He is also survived by his three sisters; Deana and Charles Swantek Sr., Loretta and Cameron Beck and Brenda and Kevin Marsh, two brothers Bobby Joe Bristow, Jr. and wife Christie, Buddy Dean and wife Diane Anderson. Three granddaughters, one step-granddaughter, two step-grandsons and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive him. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Thursday, October 20, 2011 at the Sharon Baptist Church at 19002 S. Gordon Cooper Dr. in Tecumseh, Oklahoma with burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Shawnee. Rev. Clint Dawkins will officiate at the service. Casket bearers will be Dennis Bristow, Taylor Speers, Chris Speers, Jr., Buddy Anderson, Charles Swantek II, and Leon Carter.
