Elberge Brown, age 93 and a long-time resident of Konawa, Oklahoma, passed away from this life Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family and friends. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 15, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church of Konawa located at 301 W. First under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa. Burial will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Resthaven Memory Gardens located at 500 S.W. 104th in Oklahoma City. Rev. Pam Shirk will officiate, and casket bearers are Tim Coffey, Marty Coffey, Jeffery Coffey, Stacey Coffey, Justin Coffey, and Jackie Gaines. Honorary bearers are Steven Gaines, Andrew Coffey, Ross Coffey, Blake Coffey, Brett Coffey, Bryce Coffey, Sean Harrison, and Blake Gaines. Elberge was born February 15, 1923 in Graysonia, Arkansas to Dick Brown and Cynthia (Woodall) Brown. He married Agnes Bernice Edwards March 2, 1946 in Purcell, Oklahoma, and he worked for Tinker Air Force Base fueling airplanes. Elberge loved ranching, fishing, and attending auctions. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Konawa, and he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He is survived by his wife, Agnes Brown of the home; three daughters, Bernice Coffey and husband, Emmitt of Konawa, Ruth Aboussie of St. Louis, Missouri, and Buffy Harrison and husband, Elliott of St. Louis, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Tim Coffey, Marty Coffey, Jeffery Coffey, Stacey Coffey, Justin Coffey, Jackie Gaines, and Steven Gaines; fourteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Cynthia Brown; one daughter, Glenda Hogue; one brother, Ray Brown; and two sisters, Nadine and Nora.
