Edwin Neil Chase

Edwin “Ed” Neil Chase, age 53, and a resident of Konawa, Oklahoma, passed away on Sunday, August 29, 2010 at Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City, after suffering a massive heart attack. A memorial service is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 1, 2010, at the First United Methodist Church in Konawa under the direction of Swearingen Funeral in Konawa.  The church is located at 301 W. First Street. Pastor Pam Shirk will officiate.  A memorial book is available for signing at Swearingen’s Funeral Home of Konawa. Ed was born on September 23, 1956, in San Francisco, California, to Marion (Wong) and Frank Chase, III.  He was the oldest of four sons.  Ed graduated from Oak Grove High School in San Jose, California and attended camp at Lair of the Bear in Pinecrest almost every summer of his life.  He lived most of his life in San Jose, California and worked 23 years as a mechanic at Almaden Mazda.  He married his high school sweetheart, Karen (Daniel) on June 13, 2005 in Kauai Hawaii, and the couple relocated to Konawa.  He worked as a cable technician for AT&T for the last nine years. Ed was an avid photographer who enjoyed photographing family, friends, and nature and was often hired as a professional photographer.  He enjoyed traveling, golfing, dabbling in auto mechanics, and spending time with his family and friends.  He was a member of the Communications Workers Union and the Machinists Union. Ed’s charming personality and contagious smile were a big part of his amazing charisma.  He was like a magnificent light – illuminating every room and every situation.  He was a loving husband, dad, pepaw, brother, son, uncle and friend. Ed is survived by his wife, Karen Daniel Chase, of Konawa, OK; one daughter, Melainie Chase Boyack and her husband, Scott of Lincoln, California; one step-daughter, Danna Guess Ward and her husband, Jeremy of Sherman, Texas; one step-son, Joey Guess of Konawa, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Alexys and Dylan Ward of Sherman, Texas; his mother, Marion Wong Chase of San Jose, California, and two brothers, David Chase and Glenn Chase both of San Jose California. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Chase, III, and one brother, Michael Chase.
