Edna Louise (Thomas) Lawson, 95 year old Wolf, Oklahoma resident, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 in Seminole, Oklahoma. She was born August 27, 1921 in Maud, Oklahoma to parents, Ella Mae (Duncan) Thomas and Lannie Houston Thomas. Edna grew up in the Wolf area and she graduated from Wolf High School in 1940. Edna had also been an active member of the First Baptist Church of Wolf , now Freewill Baptist Church since she was 18 years old. On May 20, 1940 Edna married J.T. Lawson in Konawa, Oklahoma. Edna went on to earn an associate degree from Seminole State College. Edna was a housewife, and had also taught 1st and 2nd grade at Wolf Public School in 1949. She and her husband J.T. Lawson raised cattle together. Edna also ran the family business, Lawson Truck and Dozer. Edna enjoyed sewing and making quilts and being active in Church activities. She loved to cook for her family and was famous for her fried pies. She loved to garden, can and had made dozens of hand sewn quilts. Edna loved her family and was the heart and soul that guided it. Most of all she loved her Lord and Savior. Her Bible that has been rebound is full of notes, marks, passages and favorite scriptures. Edna is survived by one daughter, Sue (Lawson) Nelson of Shawnee, Oklahoma; two sons, Jim Lawson and his wife Vivian Lawson of Checotah, Oklahoma, Mike Lawson of Wolf, Oklahoma; she is also survived by five grandchildren, Troy (Debbie) Nelson, Scott (Tracy) Nelson, Kayla (Lawson) (Chris) Yanda, Justin (Samantha) Lawson, Kristi Lawson ; by ten great-grandchildren, Jake Nelson, Tanner Nelson, Taylor Nelson, Trevor (Courtney) Nelson, Ava Grace Yanda, Daythan Lawson, Anna Lawson, Jackson Lawson, Adyson Lindamin, Brintly Davis; by two great-great grandchildren, Boston Nelson, Presley Nelson; by grandson, Garrett Lawson’s widow, Heather Kaplan; and by a host of other family and dear friends. Edna was preceded in death by her parents, Ella Mae (Duncan) Thomas and Lannie Houston Thomas; by her husband of 70 years, J.T. Lawson who died June 20, 2010; and by one grandson, Garrett Lawson who died October 23, 2011, by three sisters, Argie Reddout, Margie Sorrell, and Lorea Phillips. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 31, 2016 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma. Rev. Allen Wood will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Wolf Cemetery. Casket Bearers will be: Monty Yerby, Mark Newman, Phillip Bookout, Dwayne Brookshire, Pepe Chavez, and Bob Villians. Honorary Bearers will be: Bob Bookout, Chad Bateman, Gary Aldridge, and Thomas Hudson.
