Edmond Harjo, longtime Ada/Latta area resident, died Sunday, January 21, 2007, at his residence in at the age of 78. rnHe was born on November 25, 1928 to Fousharjochee Harjo and Yahnah Morgan in Konawa. He served in the United States Army as a medic during the Korean War. He married Lucy Mae (Cornelius) on April 12, 1954 in Seminole, Okla. He worked as a truck driver for a moving company for several years. rnEdmond was a founding member of Rock Springs Indian Baptist Church in Sasakwa, OK. rnEdmond is survived by one son, Clifford Harjo of Holdenville, OK; 10 grandchildren including Charlie Harjo and his wife Brittany of Ada, Edmond Owens Harjo of Ada and Clifford Harjo, Jr. of Ada; five great-grandchildren; eight nieces and a host of other family & friends. rnHe was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Lucy in August 1992; one daughter, Carol Hawkins; one grandson, Micah Hawkins; two brothers and three sisters. rnFuneral services will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at Rock Springs Indian Baptist Church in Sasakwa. Burial will follow at Cornelius Family Cemetery in Seminole, Okla. The body will be moved to the family's home south of Ada at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, January 23, and will lie in state until Wednesday, Janruary 24 . He will then be moved to Rock Springs Indian Baptist Church at 4:00 PM for a wake service at 7:00 PM that evening. rnServices are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa.
